Solenoid

This is the solenoid, made using brass and stainless steel, that we decided to incorporate into our system to maintain the pressure necessary for proper operation. Its voltage rating is 12V DC. Its operating temperature range is -10°C to 120°C. Its operating pressure range is 0 to 115 psi.

PEX Pipe

Cross-linked polyethylene pipe (PEX for short) was chosen to run from the water supply up to the solenoid because of its superior flexibility, greatly reducing the number of fittings needed for installation. PEX is also resistant to temperature extremes, stress and chemical attacks.

CPVC Pipe

Because PEX pipe is so flexible, there was concern that the pressure leading into the nozzle might not be consistent. For this reason, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride piping was chosen to run from the solenoid up to the nozzle. It's more rigid than PEX pipe, and is fire resistant, making it ideal for this situation.
